The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve organizes, since 2009, an amazing and international event in October, totally addressed to Classic Cars.

From 2014, after a restructuring, Algarve Classic Festival started to be co-organized by Race Ready, classic events and Iberian Historic Endurance organizer at the Iberian Peninsula.

Enjoying the good weather that it's still in Algarve at this time of the year, the event counts every year with more than 300 teams and 500 drivers from all over the world.

Paulo Pinheiro, responsible for the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, doesn't hold the enthusiasm for this years ACF: "It's with big pleasure that the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve welcomes to one more Algarve Classic Festival. We are absolutely sure that the 2018 edition will be a huge success once again, with an event that's already a tradition in our calendar, always counting with cars and enthusiastic races."


Diogo Ferrão, the responsible organizer for the event, claims that "Algarve Classic Festival is one of the most cherished events by the European Gentlemen Drivers and it's already one of the biggest of Europe. Giving use to my international knowledge with this kind of specialty events, we are going to take advantage of the best examples, always adapting them to the local needs. First, this event is made for the drivers that bring those incredible cars to Portugal. However, i would like to also position this event to the true enthusiasts, those who can appreciate the beauty and rarity of seeing and listening an Aston Martins DR4 Zagato or a Lola T70, competing in full lungs.

The Formula Junior Historic Racing Association (“FJHRA”) was created in 1993. In 1995, the FIA Lurani Trophy became the first FIA Championship to be held by its own organization. In 1997 the Formula Juniors made their first race in Monaco and it was one of the hardest races of the day with a group of teams with a fantastic grid, recreating the 1959-1963 Junior Monaco Grand Prix season.

Since 1998, Formula Junior has been running annually at the renowned Goodwood Circuit Revival Meeting, and since 2014, it has also run in conjunction with F3 at Goodwood Members Meeting.


Pre 1975 Algarve Sports Cars

Sports Cars races has always been one of the favorites among the public during Algarve Classic Festival, due to the heavy heritage that those cars have in Portugal (examples of Vila Real and Estoril), but also from the old colonies of Angola and Moçambique. After last years well succeeded races, drivers have defy us to continue to include Sports Cars races on the program. 

Together with GT & Sport Car Cup and U2TC organisers, also making presence at ACF, we have accepted to co-organised this race, which we baptized of "Algarve Sports Cars Pre-1975".

Already on it's 3rd edition and having as the main focus Sports Cars from the end of the 60's and beginning of the 70's, the competition also accepts cars like Porsche 911 RSR, which used to race together with the GT's at the time of the endurance world competition. Pre-'63 GT supported by DK Engineering 

First announced in 2009 as a special one-off race for pre-‘63 GT cars at the Silverstone Classic, the popularity of the formula became immediately apparent, with entries from all over Europe and beyond. 

GT & Sport Car Cup

Competition for genuine Pre-1966 GT and Pre-1963 Sports Cars which have competed on the Endurande World Championship.

Organized for the 10th year in a row, these endurance races only participate on the best "European Historic Festivals", with the grids filled with amazing and original cars like jaguar E-Type lightweight, Ferrari 250 GT Berlinettas, Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2s, AC Cobra 289, Morgan Plus 4SLR, among others.

Motor Racing Legends 50's Sports Cars

One of the most elegant competitions from Algarve Classic Festival, MRL 50's Sports Cars invites true Pre-91 Sport Cars to participate on an endurance race on a Saturday afternoon.

With the lights on and the sun going down, Jaguar C and D-Type, Lister knobbly, Cooper-Monaco and Lotus 11 and 15, among others, take us automatically  to the imaginary of the 24 hours Le Mans.

Algarve it's the most traditional  of this competition, with the perfect ending season for drivers and teams.

Historic Touring Car Challenge

The HTCC is for Group 5 cars up to 1969, Group 2 cars up to 1981 and Group A cars post ’81. New for 2016, the entry eligibility has been extended to include Group A cars right up to December 1990, and turbo cars cars up to 1600cc.

Originally created for Group A tourisms, for real race cars from the English and European championships era between 1972 an 1985.

At Algarve Classic Festival they are going to dispute a 2 hours Endurance race.


This race it´s reserved for tourism cars previous to 1966 and with CC until 2000. It's always one of the most popular race among the public, with dozens of Ford Cortina Lotus, Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, BMW 1800 TISA and the restless Mini Cooper S, fighting for each centimeter of the track. At the steering wheel there are always huge drivers from the past who makes wonders driving those cars.

Iberian Historic Endurance

Created by Diogo Ferrão, those competitios are the big ones at the Iberian Peninsula. With an average of 37 inscriptions per weekend, this competitions accepts tourism and GT's, being divided on 3 classes: unitl 1965, until 1971 and until 1976.

Each weekend includes 2 races, normally of 50 minutes for one or 2 drivers.

Fórmula Ford Portugal

Created at 2011, former "Single Seater Series", Formula Ford Portugal had as motivation the existence of a competition where the cars that used to be storage on a garage could race and roll on some track days. Through the years, Formula Ford have been receiving a growing number of participants.

Algarve Classic Festival race it's always the most exciting of the year, with a get together of Portuguese drivers and dozens of foreigners.

CSS Group1 and Mini Trophy


Created in 2012, CSS Group1 for Group 1 Pre-1981 Spec Classics was born out of the need for teams to compete in a championship where participation costs were controlled to the fullest, meeting the English “Club Racing” spirit. This competition is always disputed to the class, rewarding the great effort of the teams and drivers that run in each of the classes and thus dispute their championship within the championships.

The Mini Trophy is intended for the MK4 SPI and MPI models according to English "Mighty Mini" rules. This means the engine gear box are standard configuration. This configuration makes purchasing a car very affordable with even lower maintenance as all parts are basically standard with very get-at-able purchase because of the large market and low priced MINI parts.

Super Seven By Toyo Tires

The Super Seven by Toyo Tires is reserved to Caterham cars with engine from Rover brand, series "K" 1600 cc, with metris chassis or De Dion imperial, from years between 2001 and 2007. Also the Caterham with the engine Ford Duratec 2000 cc (model 420R), with production year from 2009 till now are also admitted in this trophy.

Public with paddock access will also have the possibility to see closely this rare machines, meet the drivers and the teams, and be surrounded by more than 300 museum cars that will be in exposition and competing during the weekend.

We also invite all classic owners to bring their cars to the event and join the party cheering even more the weekend, with the possibility to park on the paddock, where you can also be appreciated by the public and be a part of the track parades.
