Following the opening round of the season at the idyllic setting of Spa-Francorchamps, the Iberian Historic Endurance championship returns to the Iberian Peninsula for its traditional double-header at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE, as part of another edition of the acclaimed Jarama Classic in Spain.

Across the weekend, with sunshine, warm temperatures and a strong crowd expected, the historic Jarama circuit will stage a true journey through the golden eras of motorsport, featuring teams, drivers and machinery representing different periods, racing philosophies and performance levels.

Boasting a full grid of more than thirty-five cars catering to all tastes and preferences, the championship—now in its 14th edition—stands as one of the headline attractions of one of the most important historic motorsport celebrations in Southern Europe.

In the Gentleman Driver Spirit (GDS) category, reserved for lower-capacity machinery, the entry list features Martin Aubert and Pedro Moriyon in a Lotus Elite, both boasting strong records at this event; Francisco Serrano in a Mini Cooper; the ever-quick Luís Sousa Ribeiro at the wheel of a Ford Cortina Lotus; the luso-Spanish pairing of António Torres da Silva and returning driver Álvaro Rodríguez in a Porsche 911 SWB; as well as Nuno Nunes in another Porsche 911 SWB.

In the H-1965 class, traditionally characterised by a strong Anglo-Saxon presence, competition intensifies with the return of Joaquim Soares in a Lotus Elan 26R. The Portuguese driver will once again go up against familiar contenders from the Iberian series, including Swedish driver P-A Forsvall in a Lotus Elan; Belgian Laurent Jaspers in a Jaguar E-Type; British driver Timothy Mahapatra in a Jaguar E-Type in Semi Lightweight specification; the Portuguese duo of Ernesto Silva Vieira and André Castro Pinheiro in a Shelby Mustang GT350; and Swiss driver Guillaume Huber, the youngest of the three Huber family members on the grid, at the wheel of a Ford Mustang.

In H-1971 class, one of the largest and most diverse grids of the event, the entry list includes Rui Garcia, who returns with his elegant Fiat 124 Sport Coupé after a strong showing in the 3 Hours of Spa; François Guerin and Alexandre Almeida in a Lotus Elan +2; Jorge Santos and Alcides Petiz in an Alfa Romeo GT Am; Carlos Dias Pedro and Rafael Cerveira Pinto in another Alfa Romeo GT Am; Lucas Gonzalez-Anleo and Jorge López, who will make a home debut with a “new” Porsche 914/6; Javier Basagoiti and Manuel Capelo in a Porsche 911 2.5 ST; and Piero dal Maso, Guilherme dal Maso and José Carvalhosa in another Porsche 911 2.5 ST.

In the H-1976 category, the evolution of the machinery becomes particularly evident with Filipe Carvalho at the wheel of a Ford Escort MK2 RS2000, making his Jarama debut; Brazilian driver Eduardo Reis in a Porsche 911 2.7 RS, contesting only his second Historic Endurance appearance in this car; Ralf Schnitzler in an eye-catching Datsun 240Z; the return of the ever-rapid Pedro Bastos Rezende in a Porsche 911 3.0 RS, following his conquest of the 2025 Iberian GT4 Am titles; local drivers Gerardo García and José Antonio Zorrilla in a Porsche 911 3.0 RS, also only their second ever Historic Endurance outing; César Freitas in his distinctive Ferrari 308 GT4; and Carlos de Miguel in a spectacular De Tomaso Pantera, a car that regularly draws plenty of attention in the paddock and perfectly embodies the “family racing” spirit of the event, bringing fans closer to the machines, breaking down barriers and sparking new passions.

In the GTP & SC class, some of the most striking cars in the paddock are on display, including two Ford GT40s that are expected to run at the sharp end of the field. One will be in the hands of the Iberian pairing of Jordi Puig and Paulo Lima, while the other will be driven by the Franco-speaking duo Olivier Muytjens and Brice Pineau. For the more curious fans, there will also be three British-built lightweight prototypes: a Crosslé 7S entered by Scuderia Rey, the Merlyn MK4 for Carlos Barbot and Filipe Vieira, and a Lotus Seven for João Mira Gomes and Nuno Afoito.

The Index of Performance plays, as usual, a central role in the sporting interpretation of the Historic Endurance, aiming to balance competitiveness between cars from different eras, architectures and performance levels. Rather than a simple outright classification, this index enables the comparison of relative performances, rewarding consistency, regularity and the ability to extract the maximum from each machine within its technical framework. The winner will take home an exclusive Cuervo y Sobrinos watch.

The large Historic Endurance grid faces a demanding Saturday, featuring a 45-minute qualifying session at 11:25 local time and the first of two 50-minute races scheduled for 16:35 the same day. The GTs and touring cars of yesteryear return to the Madrid asphalt at 11:50 on Sunday. Both races will be streamed live on the Race Ready YouTube channel.
