GRAND PRIX PAU HISTORIQUE
"Inaugurated in 1933, the circuit is located in the historic center of the town of Pau, where you can breathe enthusiasm for the automobile
In 1901, the Grand Prix du Sud-Ouest was organized here, the first race in the world entitled “Grand Prix”. The designation became universal and remains in use to this day. In this circuit with a very strong tradition, competitions of all kinds were held, including Formula 1, 2 and 3000, WTCC, among others.
In 1933 the course was modified and the race was titled Grand Prix de Pau Historique. This is just one of five circuits around the world that, since 1933, have used the same layout. Along the 2,760 mt of perimeter, the action unfolds right in the center of the city, between narrow streets, stone walls and gardens, with the Pyrenees as a backdrop, creating a breathtaking environment.
The circuit, also known as “Little Monaco”, annually hosts a classic car festival where a very limited set of competitions is admitted, including the Iberian Historic Endurance.
