The 2026 Carrera 80 season gets underway this weekend at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE, as part of the Jarama Classic programme, one of the most important historic motorsport festivals in the Iberian Peninsula.
The iconic Madrid circuit provides the ideal setting for the season opener, and is arguably the venue that best embodies the spirit of Carrera 80. Officially opened in 1967, Jarama brought an end to nearly three decades without permanent circuits in Spain, marking the beginning of a new era in Spanish motorsport development.
It was on this stage that some of the most memorable Iberian tin-top battles were fought, where touring cars enjoyed their golden era throughout the 1980s, and where GT racing began to gain prominence in the late 1990s. The circuit also played a key role in the growth of one-make series, a phenomenon that deeply shaped the competitive landscape of motorsport in the Iberian Peninsula.
Set for a weekend that promises to bring back the atmosphere of classic race meetings at Jarama, the entry list features ten teams, including several well-known names from the Race Ready-organised series as well as a number of debutants.

The Portuguese team Garagem João Gomes opts for a debutant pairing of José Maria Pérez and Luís Tojeiro at the wheel of a Porsche 968 CS (GT Copa), formerly part of a Spanish one-make series. Meanwhile, Naturhouse makes its debut with its BMW M3 E36 (GT Copa), a car first seen in action during the Estoril Exclusive Test, driven by Kilian Revuelta and Gustavo Castro. The
Belgian outfit HY Racing, based in Andalusia, returns with renewed ambitions, entrusting Olivier Muytjens and Brice Pineau with extracting the full potential of their Porsche 911 3.0 RS (GT Copa), after already fighting at the sharp end last season.

The Spanish representation also includes two cars prepared by Madrid-based Eficar Team. Juan Alonso and José Antonio Zorrilla will line up at the wheel of a Honda Civic (T2000), while Teo Antonio Pérez will pilot his usual BMW 325i E36 (GT Copa). The Ciudad Ducal outfit enters, for its part, the pairing of Jaime Artajo and Carlos de Miguel in a BMW E30 325 (TMAX). Well known to the Madrid fans, Artajo is expected to benefit from strong support in the grandstands.
RP Motorsport squad arrives from Portugal as one of the strongest outfits in the field, fielding three cars. Among them stands out the imposing BMW E30 M3 (T MAX), with which Paulo Lima claimed both Carrera 80 races held at last year’s Jarama Classic, now entrusted to the pairing of Paulo Lima's son Bruno Lima and José Paradela. The Portuguese team will also field the Toyota Starlet (T1400) of João Neves and the BMW 323i (Group 2) of César Freitas.
Rounding off the entry list is the Portuguese team Keep on Racing, which entrusts its Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1 (Group 2) to Rui Moura and António Duarte.

On this weekend’s programme, the Carrera 80 grid will share the track with competitors from Group 1 Portugal and the Mini Trophy, adding to a particularly attractive schedule for historic racing enthusiasts.
In the Madrid area, on-track activity for Carrera 80 gets underway officially at 10:00 on Saturday, local time (one hour ahead of Lisbon), with the qualifying session. The opening race of the season, a 40-minute encounter featuring a mandatory pit stop, kicks off Sunday’s programme at 10:10. The second and decisive race of the weekend is scheduled for 15:55 on Sunday, local time, and will be streamed live via Race Ready’s digital platforms.
