The Iberian Historic Endurance race at the Algarve Classic Festival is set to introduce a key change. With entry numbers soaring for the rejuvenated meeting at the Algarve International Circuit, the premier historic racing series in southern Europe has confirmed the starting grid will be split into two groups.
Taking place from 24–26 October 2025, the Algarve Classic Festival once again joins the Race Ready calendar. First staged in 2010, the festival has grown into a must-attend fixture, held in one of Europe’s sunniest regions and on a circuit widely recognised as one of the world’s most exciting. It has become a favourite among competitors and guests alike, and today ranks as one of the biggest and most prestigious historic racing gatherings on the Iberian Peninsula, attracting over 300 cars and around 500 drivers representing more than 20 nations.

With the Historic Endurance entry list surpassing seventy cars, organisers have confirmed the grid will be split into two fields: Historic Endurance 1 and Historic Endurance 2.
The first group will bring together cars from the Gentleman Driver Spirit, H-1965 and GTP & Sportscar up to 1965 categories.
The second will be reserved for Touring Cars and GTs from the H-1971 and H-1976 classes.
On 23 October, test sessions will be held for teams wishing to fine-tune their cars ahead of the race weekend.

Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, commented: “The strong interest in Historic Endurance at the Algarve Classic Festival has led us to split the grid into two groups: one exclusively for H-1971 and H-1976 cars, and the other for the more historic machinery. We are confident that both grids will feature spectacular cars, rich in diversity, with a strong international presence, united by the camaraderie and passion for motorsport that define this championship.”
Ahead of the Algarve Classic Festival, and already this coming weekend, the Historic Endurance field will contest another pivotal round of the season within the Estoril Classics 2025 programme.
