Jerez Classic Ignites May with Unforgettable Racing Extravaganza

Updated: May 10

¡SIENTE LA ADRENALINA DE LA VELOCIDAD, DONDE LA HISTORIA COBRA VIDA EN LA PISTA!

On the weekend of 25 and 26 May, the great classic races and the biggest speed competition on the Iberian Peninsula return to Andalusia, in an event that evokes some of the best car races of the past, while highlighting the most advanced of today's technology.

In a programme packed with attractions, both on and off the track, all those who come to the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto will be able to witness thirteen races from seven different Iberian competitions, with racing cars from the past to the present day, spanning more than six decades of world motor racing history, in an event that will attract grandparents and grandchildren who share a passion for motor racing.

The line-up of classic races will be headlined by the Iberian Historic Endurance, which promises to bring more than three dozen cars that wrote the golden chapters of world motorsport up to 1976. The starting grid of the most prestigious classic car competition in Southern Europe combines the elegance of the Porsche 356 and Alfa Romeo GTAm with the visual and sonic brutality of the Ford GT40 or Shelby Cobra.

One of the novelties of the Jerez Classic, in a partnership between the Iberian Race Ready and the Portuguese ANPAC, will be the Carrera Los 80, which will have two races together with the combined grid of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade de Clássicos, which brings the usual ‘Porsche 911 vs Ford Escort’ clash to Spain, and the  Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade de Legends 1300 for up-to-1300cc cars.

The programme will also include two races of the Group 1 Portugal, the popular Portuguese category that puts more than three dozen cars on track according to the pre-1981 Group 1 regulations, including the Mini Trophy participants, as well as a joint round of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade de Legends and the  Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade de Super Legends.

It's not just about classic racing, as Jerez Cassic has been chosen to host the joint inaugural round of the three series of Supercars Endurance - Iberian Supercars/Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade. Currently one of the biggest GT4 competitions in the world, the first race of the year will bring together the latest generation of racing machines from some of the world's most prestigious manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Aston Martin, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Porsche and Toyota, as well as the competitive TCR touring cars.

The Racer Cup will also be present in Jerez de la Frontera with the traditional MINI Cooper cars, joined by the BMW M2 CS Cup cars of the new Racer GT category, in a line-up that always offers lively and unpredictable racing for the spectators.

In addition to the heat expected on the track, with exciting races for all tastes, the event organisers have also thought about the spectators who come to this great event with their families. More than 150 cars and 200 drivers are expected at the Jerez Classic, bringing with them an entourage of more than a thousand people. In the paddock there will be activities from BMW, MINI and Red Bull, as well as an exhibition of classics and a market of motorsport-related items.

Admission to the Jerez Circuit Main Grandstand will be free for all motor racing fans, but access to the paddock, where all the racing cars can be seen up close, will only be available to those who purchase a ticket.
