In a year of change, Carrera Los 80 innovates

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

2023 season presentation will take place this Saturday at ClassicMadrid

The Iberian series Carrera Los 80, organised by Race Ready, enters a new era in 2023, with the introduction of the new logo mirroring the irreverent philosophy so typical of the 1980s that will be reflected in these races this season.

Carrera Los 80 races offer a platform where, above all, drivers can enjoy driving the race cars that marked a golden era of motorsport in an enjoyable atmosphere, with no points or a champion at the end of the season.

The Carrera Los 80 calendar will "grow" this year, with two races in Portugal and another two in Spain, in four of the most prestigious motorsport venues in the Iberian Peninsula: Portimão, Jarama, Jerez and Estoril.

The semi-endurance format will continue to be the bet, but this time each event will always consist of two 40-minute races, with a compulsory pit stop, allowing teams formed by one or two drivers, and accepting mainly Touring cars and some Grand Touring cars from 1976 to 1993.

Gonçalo Caldeira designed logo also changed, and now presents a strong typographic design, which is both robust and friendly, due to its rounded shapes and colours of the time, allowing a better identification and reading.

For Diogo Ferrão, the CEO of Race Ready, "With new teams to appear, including one that will run three BMW 323i on track, Carrera Los 80 will gain a new prominence and attention within Race Ready. This new image marks a stage of what is to come. We want Carrera Los 80 to bring the irreverent spirit of the 1980s, but with the principles that formed the basis of the Historic Endurance success - 3 C - No Cheating, No Crashing, No Complaining."

The upcoming season of Carrera Los 80 will happen at the Casa de Campo de Madrid's Fairgrounds this Saturday, February 25 at 1pm during the Salón Internacional del Vehículo Clásico de Madrid, ClassicMadrid.

The first meeting of Carrera Los 80 is scheduled for the Algarve Welcome Spring, on the weekend of 5 and 6 May, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
